Mechanical energy, considered in extended classical mechanics, is distinct from nuclear energy. While dark energy and kinetic energy are forms of mechanical energy, they, along with energy involved in Lorentz transformations, do not conform to the relativistic mass-energy equation - which primarily applies to nuclear energy.
